About The Position

Wilkes University is seeking a High School Trigonometry & Pre-Calculus Teacher for its Upward Bound Program. Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO Program dedicated to supporting high school students in their journey towards higher education by assisting with career exploration and college preparation. The teacher will be responsible for the academic component of the program, which involves teaching and tutoring high school students in Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus during scheduled class times. The curriculum aims to reinforce and deepen students' understanding of their current high school mathematics subjects, potentially covering topics like trigonometric functions, identities, equations, graphs, and other essential concepts for advanced mathematics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, and/or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with high school students.
  • Experience in a college-preparatory program.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the academic component of the Upward Bound Program.
  • Teach and tutor high school students in Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus.
  • Deliver instruction during structured class periods.
  • Supplement and strengthen students' knowledge of current high school mathematics material.
  • Cover topics such as trigonometric functions, identities and equations, graphs, functions, and other foundational concepts.
