About The Position

Kawerak, Inc. is a non-profit organization that relies on federal agency and grant funding primarily to fund positions. This position is funded by agency or grant funding. This means that this position, as with all positions at Kawerak, is subject to availability of funding each year to continue to fund the position.

Requirements

High school diploma or G. E. D. equivalent.
Two years previous secretarial or administrative experience.
Is at least 18 years of age and possesses a valid Alaska driver’s license or identification card; Has no current actions against driver’s license if the employee has a driver’s license; Be of good moral character per 2 AAC 91.020 (4)(A); Has not in the last 10 years been convicted of a felony; Has not in the last 5 years been convicted of a misdemeanor; Has no convictions for fraudulent activity, including but not limited to, embezzlement, theft, forgery, larceny, burglary, falsification, or identity theft.
Must be able to type.
Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
Must be able to work well with the public.
Ability to obtain a Food Workers Card if required.

Computer experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support at the local level to facilitate information exchange and delivery of services.
Assist in gathering information on the needs of tribal members at the local level, forward above information to Kawerak for inclusion in region-wide planning efforts.
Establish and maintain the local filing system and office procedures.
Receive visitors, answer phone calls and disseminate information.
Assist with tribal enrollment, financial reports and other reports as necessary.
Schedule meetings and conferences for Tribal Council.
Record and transcribe minutes for all Tribal Council meetings.
Compose letters and answer routine correspondence, type reports, grants and correspondence.
Assume responsibility for day-to-day office operations for the Tribal Council.
Assist tribal members with application forms and information requests at the local level.
Assume the primary responsibility to ensure the Tribal Progeny enrollments are kept up to date and supplying Tribal citizens with Tribal Identifications.
Assume the primary responsibilities of the daily operations of the DMV within the Tribal offices.
Adheres to DMV SOPs and any revisions to those procedures as provided from time to time during the term of the Contract.
Maintains an acceptable error rate within DMV standards in the processing of DMV transactions. These minimum standards provide for a consistent and systematic review of DMV’s practices, records, and inventory to ensure that all offices are providing consistent service to customers, to ensure all transactions are properly accounted for, and to ensure accurate record keeping.
Reads all system messages, including but not limited to USPVS, VLS, SPEXS, and PDPS.
Assume the primary responsibilities of daily operations of Food Bank operations within the Tribal offices.
Must be willing and able to work closely and collaborate with the Tribal Coordinator.
Must be willing and able to work evenings for Tribal Council meetings.
Maintain and order supplies and inventory for the Tribal Office.
Other duties as assigned by the Tribal Council President.
