About The Position

Represents the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Commission (NTGC) in a highly professional manner at all times. Monitors the gaming operation to ensure compliance with NTGC operating policy and procedures, preserves and protects the assets of the Nooksack Indian Tribe, and ensures the integrity of the gaming operation and experience. Monitors and ensures compliance with the Tribal Gaming Ordinance and Regulations, and the Tribal-State Compact.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work various shifts (day/night) including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to preserve the confidentiality of all information and materials either generated or obtained while conducting inspections and performing all job responsibilities. Must uphold the strictest confidentiality.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply the regulations as set forth by the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Ability to process information under pressure, including interviewing individuals, testifying during hearings and/or court proceedings related to gaming infractions or criminal investigations conducted by agents.
  • Must be able to work independently, be detail oriented (written and verbal), and have a consistent attendance record, and exercise discretionary judgment.
  • Must be able to resolve and/or refer problems by proper investigative techniques, including, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid irrefutable conclusions.
  • Must have the ability to write reports and give effective presentations and responses to questions from managers, patrons, employees, and the general public.
  • Must be able to travel to all Nooksack Tribal Gaming Facilities in order to fulfill staffing requirements as needed and as directed.
  • Ability to learn or knowledge of known possible cheats and scams within the gaming industry.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Federal, State, Gaming Commission, management, co-workers and the general public.
  • Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment.
  • Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and maintain eligibility requirements throughout employment with the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Washington State Driver’s License and meet the insurability requirements of the Tribe. (Must provide Driving Abstract from the Department of Motor Vehicle).
  • Must have the ability to sit, stand and/or walk for entire shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry upwards of 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment including a 10-key, personal computer, fax and copier.
  • Monitored by surveillance cameras.
  • Ability to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must read, write and speak English.
  • Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations with composure.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip from assigned work areas.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, bright lights, noise and enclosed areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in for Tribal Gaming Agency preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Ordinance preference.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures regulatory compliance with all applicable Tribal, Federal and State laws and regulations by monitoring, observing, reporting and taking appropriate action.
  • Detect and investigate regulatory issues, including but not limited to game protection, rule of play, and irregularities and relevant laws.
  • Reviews existing and proposed regulations, controls, policies and standards for adherence and compliance with Federal, State and Tribal requirements.
  • Performs audits on operations to determine compliance with system of internal controls and regulations.
  • Assist in investigating and documenting variances, shortages and exceptions.
  • Utilize and maintain systems, logs and other means to track and report gaming incidents and activities that are not normal to the operation or are in violation of specific gaming procedures and regulations.
  • Enforce applicable law while maintaining a positive relationship with those impacted. Maintain positive relations with employees, management, outside organizations and/or agencies.
  • Examines, tests and inspects gaming equipment on a random basis as determined by the director.
  • Conducts barring of unwanted patrons.
  • Observes the conduct of games to ensure honesty and fairness to the patron as well as the Tribe.
  • Assist in loss prevention in reference to Tribal assets.
  • Responsible for monitoring the counting, verifying, and recording the contents of various income sources by the Nooksack Tribal Casino’s Count Teams in accordance with the Tribal Internal Control System (TICS) for the Drop and Count, and transferring of the funds in the Cage Department accountability. Monitor the Count Team members who are responsible for ensuring that the appropriate count documents are completed and provided to the Accounting Department for purposes of auditing. Responsible for reporting on compliance of employees, manager, and supervisors of the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Enterprises with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and professional standards of conduct.
