About The Position

The Triage Registered Nurse is a telephonic triage RN position for TriHealth’s OB GYN Centers. The nurse triages obstetrical and gynecological patient phone calls, assesses symptoms, provides advice, and determines the appropriate level of care using established protocols and provider guidance. This is not a remote position. The role is based at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is full-time on the day shift.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or diploma in nursing.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing; new hires are required to obtain a BSN within five years of hire.
Experienced, licensed Registered Nurse in Ohio.
At least five years of experience in labor and delivery or women’s health.
Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency charting in Epic.
Registered Nurse credential required upon hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.

Responsibilities

Answer incoming calls in a timely manner and triage them with strong customer service, telephone, and communication skills.
Assess patient symptoms by phone, collect and document information, and recommend an appropriate course of action according to protocols.
Use clinical judgment to evaluate patient needs, provide advice, and escalate urgent or emergent cases to medical providers as warranted.
Facilitate care among physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, other TriHealth specialties, and patients.
Use Epic, Cadence, and the Cisco Phone System; ensure Voalte messages are complete, thorough, and routed to the appropriate pool.
Report critical or vital-value laboratory results to physicians, obtain care instructions, and support referral processes.
Contact physicians promptly through Voalte or by phone.
Call prescriptions in to pharmacies and enter them in the patient chart for physician signature after receiving a telephone order.
Uphold patient privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements when accessing charts or providing information.
