The Tree Worker Helper assists journey-level tree trimming and removal workers by performing simpler, routine duties. Work may include tree cutting, limbing, bucking, wedging, flushing, trimming, pruning, removal, and landscape maintenance or repair. The typical season runs from April through November, but may vary based on weather, project needs, or funding. Entry on duty is anticipated between April and May 2027. This is a temporary seasonal appointment, generally not to exceed 1,039 hours, though some positions may be appointed for up to 1,560 hours depending on the park and program. The appointment is expected to end when seasonal work is complete and may be terminated earlier due to funding, project needs, performance, or other considerations. Work is performed outdoors across varied vegetation, elevations, and terrain, including flat, steep, rocky areas and places covered with downed logs, limbs, and vegetation. Work may occur in bad weather and extreme temperatures, with ongoing exposure to dirt, sawdust, petroleum products, and falling limbs or trees. The role involves strenuous physical effort, frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 75 pounds, and prolonged standing, long-distance walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in awkward positions. Safety practices and equipment are required.
