About The Position

The Treatment Nurse administers prescribed medications and provides treatments to residents according to physician orders. The role observes residents’ responses, documents and reports care, maintains medical records, and communicates changes in residents’ conditions to supervisors and attending physicians. The nurse also educates residents and families, helps plan and supervise C.N.T. work, implements policies and procedures, and promotes safe work practices and infection control.

Requirements

Current State Board of Nursing license as an R.N. or L.P.N.
Ability to lead and motivate subordinates.
Ability to perform varied duties and adapt to a work schedule that changes daily.
Ability to work closely with residents, physicians, and staff.
Ability to work to prescribed nursing standards.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Interest in performing a service.

Responsibilities

Administer prescribed medications orally and by injection.
Provide treatments to residents according to physician orders.
Observe residents’ reactions to medications and treatments.
Ensure proper handling and storage of medications and controlled substances.
Observe, record, and report services provided.
Report changes in residents’ conditions to a supervisor and attending physician.
Sign off that medications and treatments were provided, as required by policy.
Maintain residents’ medical records through documentation, as required by policy.
Educate residents and families regarding care.
Assist in planning, supervising, and instructing C.N.T.’s; assign daily work to support positive resident outcomes.
Implement and maintain policies and procedures.
Ensure safe work practices and proper infection control techniques are used.
