About The Position

This job will be responsible for performing duties related to the intake, evaluation, diagnosis, counseling, treatment, and case management of troubled children and their families, which includes the clinical review and supervision of client files.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of counseling methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations concerning treatment and educational programs.
  • Knowledge of human behavior, child development, social problems, family dynamics and community resources.
  • Knowledge of child management techniques.
  • Knowledge of professional ethics related to the counseling profession.
  • Skill in the application of interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to use a computer and related software.
  • Ability to identify and determine individual treatment needs.
  • Ability to clinically review and supervise the maintenance of client files.
  • Ability to administer and interpret test results.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to interpret laws, regulations and policies.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Social or Behavioral Science; AND Three years of professional level experience in childcare service, guidance and rehabilitative counseling or clinical social work.
  • An equivalent combination of education (not less than a high school diploma/GED), training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.
  • Maintain the ability to pass the background checks required for the position. These background checks may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Background Check using Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), Level 1 and Level 2 Background screening (Ch. 435 Florida Statutes), Child Abuse, Abandonment and Neglect Record Check using the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS), Sex Offender and Sexual Predator record check using the list maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
  • Possess the necessary job related license(s) or certification(s) that may include possession of a Florida Driver License (Class E) or an applicable Commercial Driver License (CDL).

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development and implementation of various treatment and educational plans.
  • Interviews, evaluates, and counsels children, adolescents, and family members.
  • Administers and interprets various diagnostic and assessment tests.
  • Evaluates various treatment programs and makes recommendations concerning appropriate revisions and adjustments.
  • Maintains, reviews and supervises the maintenance of client history files.
  • Prepares reports on psychological examinations for staff dissemination.
  • Provides case management services including case management of at-risk children and children with disabilities.
  • Participates in various in-service training programs.
  • May supervise and train subordinate professional personnel.
