About The Position

The Traveling Project Superintendent is responsible for independently managing their assigned project that may vary in scope and complexity at various assigned locations. This role is responsible for ensuring successful completion within scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards. This role leads field operations, supervises and mentors junior staff and field personnel. The Traveling Project Superintendent utilizes company technology resources and construction management processes to optimize project execution while maintaining BHS standards across all assigned projects. This position requires flexibility to travel to project sites as business needs dictate.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of commercial construction experience with previous supervisory experience.
  • Extensive experience in commercial ground-up construction, renovations, and tenant improvement (TI) projects.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification required.
  • Thorough understanding of commercial construction methods, equipment, construction documents, and quantity takeoffs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making while collaborating with project leadership and company management.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to BHS Construction's culture and values.
  • Ability to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and travel extensively as project demands require.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage their assigned project that may vary in scope and complexity at various project locations in Kansas.
  • Oversee daily field operations, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor, assistant superintendents, interns, and junior staff while promoting BHS’s culture and standards.
  • Utilize BIM modeling and construction management technology to improve project coordination and efficiency when applicable.
  • Serve as the primary field contact for owners, architects, inspectors, subcontractors, and the BHS office team.
  • Foster positive working relationships with employees, clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Lead project scheduling, logistics planning, subcontractor coordination, inspections, quality control, safety enforcement, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate project startup activities, mobilization, and demobilization for assigned projects.
  • Manage project closeout activities including punch lists, final inspections, turnover documentation, and owner training.
  • Address employee performance concerns through coaching, training, and collaboration with Project Management and Human Resources.
  • Maintain timely communication with senior leadership, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support company objectives and project success.
