The Traveling Generator Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance, load bank testing, and start-up commissioning on power generation equipment at customer locations throughout Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. This highly travel-oriented role includes overnight and extended stays, which may keep the technician at one customer or project site for several weeks. Working with substantial independence, the technician manages assigned service work and travel logistics, troubleshoots and repairs equipment, identifies recommended repairs and prepares written estimates, documents work accurately, and represents Loftin professionally to customers and dealers. The technician follows safety requirements, including completing pre-job safety assessments and using required personal protective equipment. The role also involves coordinating assignments, parts, travel, and lodging; maintaining company vehicle, tools, meters, and truck stock; completing service reports, time entries, expenses, and training; and supporting customers and dealers in person, by phone, or in the field. Technicians are expected to progress through Loftin’s Qualification Card levels, maintain applicable licenses and certifications, complete required factory training, and mentor less experienced technicians. The position requires extensive travel, approximately 75%, including overnight and multi-week assignments, and availability for emergency calls 24/7. Physical requirements include regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally approximately 100 pounds, working outdoors in varying weather including extreme heat, and performing frequent standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and bending-related activities. Long-distance driving and prolonged sitting may also be required.
