About The Position

Clean Harbors is seeking a Traveling Demolition Laborer for our Soil Remediation group. This role involves significant overtime, with a standard rotation of 6 weeks on followed by approximately 1 week off (paid). The position offers competitive pay starting at $24+ per hour, determined by experience, and is located across various sites, with preferred locations considered on a case-by-case basis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable MVR
  • Requires pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping and crouching in confined spaces
  • Requires walking, climbing, speaking, listening, color determination and clarity of vision at 2 feet or more (with or without lenses)
  • Requires sitting for extended periods
  • Requires the ability to properly wear and use personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) including all levels, including full encapsulation PPE suits which can elevate body temperature substantially during strenuous exertion
  • Available for 24/day on-call basis
  • Requires speaking, writing, and listening in English
  • Position involves strenuous physical exertion
  • Requires standing, lifting up to 50lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Previous heavy equipment experience is a plus
  • Strong mechanical ability preferred
  • Understands the manpower and equipment required to complete assignments
  • Knowledge of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance helpful
  • Knowledge of RCRA requirements/regulations helpful, training provided
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation DOT regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste codes, manifesting and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) helpful, training provided

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and ensures constant compliance with Health & Safety Compliance and regulations
  • Responsible for the safe and compliant execution of all jobs that they work on, ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Assists the on-scene foreman/supervisor in managing large projects
  • General remediation labor activities and training on heavy equipment
  • Performs emergency response activities including, but not limited to chemical and water spills, etiological and biological contamination, equipment decontamination, etc.
  • Responsible for vehicle inspections, equipment inspections and Health & Safety inspections
  • Ensures proper use of equipment and immediately notifies supervisor of any mechanical failures or problems with equipment
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of Clean Harbors business, including, but not limited to running supplies, emergency response clean ups, etc.
