About The Position

This is a hybrid role. US work authorization is required. VIATechnik is the global leader in Virtual Design and Construction, with over 400 digital experts worldwide. VIATechnik works on significant projects such as Apple's new headquarters, Virgin Hyperloop One, Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) modernization & expansions, Denver International Airport, Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Hudson Yards, the Atlanta Falcons Stadium, Chase Arena, and the Tesla Gigafactory. The team comprises leading VDC professionals, technologists, architects, and engineers who are passionate about problem-solving and continuous learning. They are results-driven, creative solution finders who prioritize understanding client needs. The Traveling Scanning Technician is a key member of VIATechnik's Reality Capture Team, responsible for delivering high-quality, on-site visual documentation. This involves using 360° photography, Matterport and LiDAR scanning, still photography, and drone imagery. The role requires a blend of technical skill and creative vision, focusing on precise field documentation and compelling visual storytelling to capture built environments across the United States.

Requirements

  • Experience with Matterport and LiDAR scanning technologies.
  • Experience in still photography and drone photography.
  • FAA Part 107 certification for commercial drone operation, or ability to quickly attain certification.
  • Exceptional technical proficiency with photography equipment, drones, and related software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage travel schedules and deliverables effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • A valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to travel extensively by car, for multiple weeks at a time.
  • US work authorization is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the architecture, engineering, construction industry and building systems.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and photogrammetry tools.
  • Experience with client-facing or customer service roles or the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
