About The Position

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented 3D Laser Scanning Operator to join our growing survey team. If you have experience—or a strong interest—in high-resolution 3D scanning and LiDAR technology, we want to hear from you! You'll work with industry-leading equipment like the Leica RTC360, P40, and NavVis systems to support exciting, hands-on projects across the country. This role involves operating 3D laser scanning equipment to capture detailed as-built data, setting up and maintaining scanning gear in field environments, and collaborating with project managers and technical teams. The position requires extensive travel nationwide to job sites. Additionally, the technician will perform traditional surveying duties when not on a scanning project, including assisting the Party Chief, maintaining survey equipment, recording daily forms, adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget, and ensuring work meets industry standards and client requirements. The role also emphasizes safety compliance, cross-training, teamwork, and timely submission of reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Highschool Diploma/GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to maintain required certifications.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
  • Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D laser scanning or surveying workflows
  • Familiarity with point cloud data and associated software
  • Comfortable with using a PC on a daily basis
  • Surveying background or certification a plus
  • Comfortable working independently in the field and in various site conditions

Responsibilities

  • Operate 3D laser scanning equipment (Leica RTC360, P40, NavVis, or similar) to capture detailed as-built data
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain scanning gear in field environments
  • Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to ensure accurate data collection
  • Travel extensively (majority of the time) to job sites nationwide
  • Manage field logistics and maintain project documentation
  • Traditional Surveying when not on a scanning project
  • Carry out a range of surveying assignments while learning the methods of survey data collection
  • Assist Party Chief as directed
  • Maintain survey equipment
  • Accurately record and report daily forms per project requirements.
  • Adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Review all work assigned before beginning and ensure all tasks are performed according to applicable industry standards and client requirements.
  • Inspect and correct work for completeness and accuracy before submission
  • Understand and follow OSHA Safety Standards and KCI corporate policies at all times
  • Participate in cross-training as requested to enhance team capabilities
  • Work collaboratively with your team to maximize production and accuracy
  • Submit accurate time sheets, mileage, and expense reports on time each week
  • Perform other duties as assigned
