About The Position

This is a travel - temporary position for a Sonographer / Ultrasound Tech in San Luis Obispo, California. The assignment is for a Short Term Acute Care Hospital with a duration of 8 contract weeks. The role involves performing various cardiovascular and non-invasive imaging studies, documenting findings, conducting peripheral vascular studies, performing stress tests and Holter monitoring, and potentially precepting new staff. The position requires participation in rotational call and adherence to facility guidelines.

Requirements

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Ultrasonographer (RDCS) required
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) required
  • Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) required
  • Fetal Echocardiography (FE) required or preferred as noted
  • ARDMS-PE or CCI-RCCS required
  • CCI-RCS or RDCS required
  • BLS from an approved provider required
  • At least two years of recent experience as a cardiac ultrasound sonographer
  • Completion of a one-year certified cardiac ultrasound course or equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to work in a short-term acute care setting
  • Ability to perform adult, pediatric, and neonatal imaging
  • Ability to participate in rotational call as described
  • Must be prepared to work in the specified location and comply with facility guidelines for imaging procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • two years vascular experience preferred
  • pediatric cardiac sonography and/or fetal echocardiography experience preferred
  • two years of hospital-based ultrasound experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiovascular and non-invasive imaging studies, including M-Mode with calculations, 2-D procedures with all required views and calculations, and Doppler echo with analysis; document data accurately for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Obtain data and interpret findings in terms of age-specific needs (e.g., pediatric echo or geriatric Doppler exams) and assist physicians by providing timely information and recognizing potential patient issues.
  • Conduct peripheral vascular studies, including arterial and venous Doppler, segmental pressures, ankle-brachial index, and carotid ultrasound.
  • Perform tilt table exams, treadmill stress testing, 24-hour Holter monitoring, and pharmacological studies as indicated.
  • Precept new staff and provide mentorship to colleagues as needed; maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in cardiovascular imaging.
  • Ensure proper documentation, equipment safety, infection control, and patient comfort throughout imaging procedures.
