About The Position

Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Procedural & Surgical Intermediate Care Unit! This is a temporary full-time, 14-week assignment on the Day Shift. The 24-bed cardiac surgical/procedural IMCU provides care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients, including bypass surgery, cardiac valve repairs/replacements, thoracic surgery/lung diagnostics, and other cardiac-based procedures and treatments. The unit also cares for patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain. Nurses handle 3-4 patients based on acuity, potentially up to 5 depending on staffing. The unit is dedicated to high-quality care, patient outcomes, safety, and teamwork, and offers opportunities for training, development, and growth.

Requirements

• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale
• 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience

Responsibilities

• Provide care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients including bypass surgery, cardiac valve repairs/replacements, thoracic surgery/lung diagnostics, and other cardiac based procedures and treatments such as ablations, left atrial appendages, ICDs, and permanent pacemakers.
• Provide a high level of care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain.
• Handle 3-4 patients on this unit based on acuity level, potentially up to 5 patients depending on staffing.
