About The Position

Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Procedural & Surgical Intermediate Care Unit! This is a temporary full-time, 14-week assignment on the day shift. The 24-bed cardiac surgical/procedural IMCU provides care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients, including bypass surgery, cardiac valve repairs/replacements, thoracic surgery/lung diagnostics, and other cardiac-based procedures and treatments such as ablations, left atrial appendages, ICDs, and permanent pacemakers. The unit also provides a high level of care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain. Nurses handle 3-4 patients on this unit based on acuity level, and at times, up to 5 patients depending on staffing. The team is committed to providing opportunities for training, development, and growth.

Requirements

• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale
• 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience

Responsibilities

• Provide care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients
• Provide care for patients undergoing cardiac-based procedures and treatments
• Provide care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain
• Handle 3-4 patients on this unit based on acuity level, potentially up to 5 patients depending on staffing
