About The Position

The Travel Registered Nurse (RN) works in a 38-bed Med/Surg unit specializing in Neuro Med Surg, supported by a staff of 55. The unit cares for a neuro patient population and uses Meditech electronic medical records. Patient ratios are estimated at 5:1 or 6:1 and are not guaranteed. Staffing information lists day-shift coverage of two charge nurses without patients, an RN-to-patient ratio of 4–5:1, and two Patient Care Technicians (PCTs). Night-shift coverage includes one to two charge nurses depending on staffing, an RN-to-patient ratio of 4–5:1, and two PCTs.

The role involves neuro and stroke assessments, fall-risk assessments, tracheostomy care, and feeding-tube management. Equipment used includes IV pumps, seizure monitoring, BiPAP and CPAP (mostly at night), and glucometers. The position is located at a facility in Denver, Colorado.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of current Med/Surg experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong initiative and collaboration skills.
• Excellent critical-thinking abilities.
• Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic situations.
• A positive, energetic, and engaging attitude toward patient care.
• Enthusiasm for working with the neuro patient population.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience in neuro settings.
• Familiarity with Meditech.

Responsibilities

• Perform NIH stroke assessments and neuro assessments.
