About The Position

This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at a hospital in Morrisville, Vermont. The role focuses on providing age-specific, direct patient care to post-anesthesia patients, monitoring their recovery, administering medications, managing pain, and ensuring safe and efficient recovery. The nurse will also be responsible for accurate documentation and coordinating with the perioperative team. The position requires adherence to all state and federal healthcare laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Current, active Registered Nurse license (state of licensure to be maintained throughout assignment).
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS (or ENPC) active prior to contract start date; if not active, a booked course must be completed at orientation.
  • Education: graduate of an accredited nursing program leading to RN licensure (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform age-specific direct patient care in a PACU or perioperative setting.
  • Ability to work a dayshift, travel assignment in a hospital setting, and meet assignment-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver age-specific, direct patient care in the PACU using the Nursing Process within departmental and specialty standards.
  • Monitor, assess, and respond to post-anesthesia patients’ physical and emergent needs; manage airway, ventilation, and oxygen therapy as indicated.
  • Administer medications, monitor effects, adjust plans of care, and provide pain management and comfort measures.
  • Document care accurately in patient records; coordinate with anesthesia, surgeons, and perioperative teams to ensure safe, efficient recovery.
  • Lead or supervise basic tasks for other care team members; delegate appropriately while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and policies governing health care delivery.
