About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse assignment for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in San Luis Obispo, California. The assignment is for 13 weeks, with a start date of 08/31/2026. The role guarantees 36 hours per week, with a shift schedule of 4x10-hour nights. The position is located in a short-term acute care hospital setting.

Requirements

Active RN license in the state of practice
Associate Degree in Nursing required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire
Minimum 2 years of recent PACU or critical care experience
Eligibility to work in the PACU setting and maintain required certifications

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to surgical patients in the immediate preoperative and postoperative period.
Receive and integrate handoff reports from anesthesiologists, surgeons, and circulating RNs into the care plan.
Ensure control of pain, bleeding, and nausea; secure proper patient positioning and airway management; monitor and stabilize vital signs.
Respond immediately to emergencies and life-threatening events; monitor hemodynamic status and interpret ECG rhythms.
Administer medications and IV therapies, manage indwelling catheters and drains, and operate relevant critical-care equipment safely.
Adhere to the unit’s chain of command, document accurately, and uphold patient safety and quality of care standards.
