Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Columbus, Ohio. This role supports a high-acuity PCU within a leading academic medical center, providing care for complex cardiac and medical patients in a telemetry-monitored stepdown environment. POSITION OVERVIEW This assignment is ideal for PCU nurses with strong telemetry and cardiac experience who are comfortable managing complex patients and working within a large, fast-paced teaching hospital system. ASSIGNMENT DETAILS • 13-week contract • Rotating day/night 3x12s (07:00–19:00 / 19:30–07:30) • Patient ratio: 1:3 • Weekend requirement: every other weekend • Self-scheduling environment • Floating required across OSU system • On-call required • 1 position available COMPENSATION Because travel rates change frequently based on market demand and facility needs, our recruiters provide the most current and competitive pay packages during your initial conversation. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide care for PCU/stepdown patients with cardiac and complex medical conditions • Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias • Manage cardiac drips, heparin protocols, and insulin drips • Provide respiratory support including BiPAP, CPAP, and HFNC • Manage central lines, PICCs, and IV therapy • Care for post-procedure and ventilated patients • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated patient care • Document patient care in Epic EMR WORK ENVIRONMENT • Academic medical center (OSU Wexner Medical Center) • Progressive Care / Stepdown unit • Adult patient population • Epic charting system REQUIRED Heartline Staffing is a Strategic Talent Partner with Purple Cow Recruiting. Requirements
- Minimum 2 years PCU RN experience REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
- Epic experience REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
- Teaching hospital experience REQUIRED
- BLS and ACLS REQUIRED
- Strong telemetry and cardiac experience REQUIRED
- Valid Ohio or Compact RN license REQUIRED (in hand at submission)
