Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role supports a busy Med-Surg unit caring for adult and geriatric patients in a structured acute care environment with strong interdisciplinary support. POSITION OVERVIEW This assignment is ideal for Med-Surg nurses who are comfortable managing full patient loads, working in a fast-paced hospital setting, and supporting a variety of medical conditions including renal, respiratory, and post-procedural care. ASSIGNMENT DETAILS • 13-week contract • Night shift 3x12s (18:30–07:00) • Patient ratio: 1:6 • Unit census: ~32 patients • 36 or 48-hour option available (48 straight time allowed) • Weekend requirement: 6 shifts within 6-week period • Floating required to like units • No call required • 3 positions available COMPENSATION Because travel rates change frequently based on market demand and facility needs, our recruiters provide the most current and competitive pay packages during your initial conversation. Each compensation package is customized and may include taxable hourly wages along with tax-free stipends when applicable. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide care for Med-Surg patients across a variety of diagnoses • Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA • Manage IV therapy, PICC lines, and blood product administration • Provide respiratory support including oxygen therapy and HFNC • Perform wound care, drain management, and post-procedure care • Monitor patients and activate rapid response teams as needed • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated patient care • Document patient care in EMR system (Epic utilized onsite) WORK ENVIRONMENT • Acute care hospital setting • Med-Surg unit (approx. 32 beds) • Adult and geriatric patient population • Epic charting environment • Scrubs: any color Heartline Staffing is a Strategic Talent Partner with Purple Cow Recruiting. Requirements
- Minimum 1 year Med-Surg RN experience REQUIRED
- First-time travelers accepted (minimum 24 months RN experience preferred)
- BLS REQUIRED
- Experience with IV therapy, wound care, and Med-Surg patient population REQUIRED
- Must be comfortable with 1:6 patient ratios
- NM or Compact RN license REQUIRED (pending accepted, must be active prior to start)
