About The Position

As a National Internal Traveler RN, you will provide direct clinical registered nursing care independently and within your scope of practice. You will use advanced patient care skills and continuously develop your nursing knowledge, skills, and behaviors through education and involvement beyond basic job requirements. The role calls for clinical expertise, adaptability, proactive professional development, and a commitment to independent, high-quality patient care in dynamic settings.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of registered nurse experience in specialty area(s), such as medical/surgical, telemetry, intensive care, emergency department, operating room, post-anesthesia recovery, pediatrics, or maternal-child health.
• ADN or Nursing Diploma.
• Current unencumbered Registered Nurse license from the state(s) where the nurse will practice and/or a compact state license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Other credentials may be required based on specialty, assignment area, facility, state licensure, and applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in the specialty; certifications and competencies supporting the care area and patient population served.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Anticipate, identify, and respond to patients’ and families’ informational and emotional needs.
• Guide and direct healthcare personnel, such as Patient Care Technicians, in caring for patients.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use, including IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices.
• Use safeguards such as IV pump drug libraries and monitor alarms as necessary.
• Initiate emergency support measures, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and protecting patients from injury.
• Assist with patient care tasks, such as emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene.
