About The Position

As a National Internal Traveler RN, you will provide direct clinical registered nursing care independently within your scope of practice. You will use advanced patient care skills and continually develop your nursing knowledge, skills, and behaviors through education and involvement beyond basic job requirements. The role requires clinical expertise, adaptability, proactive professional development, and a commitment to independent, high-quality patient care in dynamic settings.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of registered nurse experience in specialty area(s), such as medical/surgical, telemetry, intensive care, emergency department, operating room, post-anesthesia recovery, pediatrics, or maternal-child health.
• ADN or Nursing Diploma.
• Current unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state(s) where practicing and/or a compact state license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Additional credentials may be required based on specialty and assignment area, facility requirements, state licensure, and local, state, and federal regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Specialty certification; certifications and competencies that support the care area and patient population served.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Anticipate, identify, and respond to patients’ and families’ informational and emotional needs.
• Guide and direct healthcare personnel, such as Patient Care Technicians, in caring for patients.
• Maintain knowledge of the setup, maintenance, and use of equipment such as IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices; use safeguards such as IV pump drug libraries and monitor alarms as necessary.
• Initiate emergency support measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and protecting patients from injury.
• Assist with patient care tasks such as emptying drainage devices, ambulating patients, and providing hygiene.
