About The Position

Infinite Medical P.C. is seeking a Travel Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and medical oversight across multiple skilled nursing and long-term care facilities within an assigned region. This role is ideal for a physician leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is comfortable traveling to support clinical operations, quality initiatives, regulatory compliance, and provider development across various locations. As a Travel Medical Director, you will serve as a key clinical leader, partnering with attending physicians, Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), facility administrators, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. You will promote clinical excellence, support quality improvement efforts, and help maintain compliance with federal and state regulations while advancing best practices in post-acute and long-term care.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a related specialty
  • Active and unrestricted medical license (or willingness to obtain licensure in multiple states, if applicable)
  • Extensive experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute care settings
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a Medical Director or similar clinical leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, quality improvement programs, and long-term care compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to travel frequently within the assigned region
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments and teams
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds and stand / walk / work on your feet up to 6-8 hours per day

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Director (CMD) certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Travel to multiple Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and long-term care facilities within the assigned region to provide medical leadership and clinical oversight
  • Provide ongoing mentorship, support, and clinical guidance to attending physicians, NPs, and PAs
  • Promote evidence-based medicine and best practices to ensure high-quality patient care across facilities
  • Chair or co-chair Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings and support quality initiatives
  • Assist facilities with Department of Health (DOH), CMS, and regulatory survey preparedness and compliance efforts
  • Collaborate with facility leadership to identify opportunities for clinical improvement and operational excellence
  • Support provider recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, credentialing, and performance evaluation processes
  • Review clinical outcomes, quality metrics, and utilization data to drive continuous improvement
  • Lead the implementation of new clinical programs, workflows, and care management initiatives
  • Serve as a clinical resource for providers, facility staff, residents, and families
  • Provide direct patient care as needed to support continuity of care and facility operations
  • Foster strong interdisciplinary collaboration among physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, therapists, and specialists
