About The Position

Take your Medical Assistant skills beyond the clinic in a statewide travel role built for an Iowa-based MA who likes independence, patient connection, and hands-on preventive care. In this field-based role, you’ll complete scheduled in-home member visits across Iowa, help members stay connected to care, and support Medicare Annual Wellness Visits in the community. We have 3 openings for Travel Medical Assistants supporting in-home member visits throughout Iowa. This is a strong fit for a Medical Assistant who is comfortable working independently, meeting patients where they are, and staying connected with clinical and operations teams while delivering consistent, accurate visit support. This is a W-2, temporary/seasonal, non-exempt role with variable hours. The project is expected to run through January 2027. An extension may be possible based on business needs, performance, and continued availability, but it is not guaranteed.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
• Medical Assistant certificate, diploma, credential, or equivalent clinical qualification
• Experience taking vitals, completing screenings, supporting point-of-care testing, and documenting clinical information
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, current registration, and active auto insurance
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout Iowa, including overnight assignments when needed
• Comfort working independently in patients’ homes
• Strong organization and follow-through with visit documentation, scheduling changes, and field-based workflows
• Ability to meet required onboarding and compliance requirements, including vaccination and TB/PPD documentation

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Medicare Annual Wellness Visits
• Experience completing in-home or field-based patient visits
• Preventive-care screening experience
• Experience with A1Cs, UAs, specimen collection, or similar point-of-care workflows
• Well-Child Visit experience
• Background supporting older adults, pediatric patients, community health, primary care, or mobile care programs

Responsibilities

• Travel to scheduled in-home member visits throughout Iowa
• Complete Medicare Annual Wellness Visits and other preventive-care activities within your Medical Assistant scope of practice
• Take and document vitals, health screenings, and other member information
• Perform approved point-of-care testing, including A1Cs and UAs
• Support specimen collection and other assigned clinical activities, as applicable
• Document visits accurately and on time in the designated system
• Follow clinical workflows, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and HIPAA requirements
• Work independently in the field while staying connected with clinical and operations teams

Benefits

• Mileage is reimbursed at $0.725 per mile between patient visits
• Eligible travel expenses for extended or overnight assignments are covered, including transportation, rental cars when needed, hotel accommodations, and meals
