About The Position

The Travel Escort position at Sunny Glen Children’s Home is responsible for assisting the program with flying out the program’s clients for their reunification with their corresponding sponsor(s). Travel Escorts must be dependable and responsible workers as well as properly supervise children in their direct care while reunifying them outside of Sunny Glen Children’s Home (e.g., an airport, flight, etc.). Travel Escorts must ensure to follow program policies as well as adapt to an on-call schedule based on program needs as well as keep the children’s best interests in mind and communicate frequently with their department lead about the status of each child’s reunification. Other duties may apply aside from those listed in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the job role.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of at least 1 year of travel experience with children.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Paycom, and Electronic Case Management software.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with an excellent driving record.
  • Have a record of tuberculosis screening showing the employee is free of contagious TB.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • Regularly exert up to 25 pounds of force.
  • Occasionally able to perform a restraint on youth weighing up to 200 lbs.
  • Able to frequently maintain visual and auditory supervision of multiple children.
  • Able to make quick decisions, tolerate frustration and be able to always balance mental toughness with compassion.
  • Able to multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the program with flying out clients for reunification with their sponsors.
  • Supervise children in direct care during reunification outside of Sunny Glen Children’s Home.
  • Follow program policies.
  • Adapt to an on-call schedule based on program needs.
  • Keep children's best interests in mind.
  • Communicate frequently with the department lead about the status of each child's reunification.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Operate a 5-passenger car, a 7-passenger van, a 12-passenger van, and a 15-passenger transit van.
  • Be on-call including holidays, weekends, and projected days off.
  • Abide by the program's Social Media policy.
  • Submit paperwork on time and ensure all signatures from the child's sponsor are obtained.
  • Communicate immediately with Lead Travel Escort in case of any unexpected circumstance.
  • Immediately report when a vehicle appears to have any light on the odometer.
  • Log information accurately, efficiently, and properly, documenting only in English and quoting what was said by the child.
  • Learn and use proper car seat and booster seat installation and usage.
  • Direct any media, photographers, or news channel personnel to the proper entity.
  • Ensure not to ever leave a child unsupervised or unattended at any point.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
