About The Position

The Commissioning Engineer team is responsible for performing final testing, startup, and commissioning of low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, switchgear, relays, and motor control centers, as well as other electrical apparatus both in the field and in a manufacturing environment. An understanding of sophisticated electrical distribution systems of complex electrical test equipment is required. You will contribute to a safe working environment for co-workers and customers and help ensure the overall success of projects. Local, regional, and national travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in related field.
  • Applicants selected must be willing to travel to customer sites.
  • Travel up to 100% may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists senior Commissioning Specialists and Managers in coordinating, executing, and reviewing MEP commissioning deliverables, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, life safety, and building automation systems.
  • Prepares, reviews, and coordinates MEP sketches, commissioning plans, test procedures, and data sheets, with limited supervision.
  • Performs routine engineering and commissioning calculations related to MEP systems, such as electrical load verification, airflow and hydronic checks, system capacity validation, and basic performance evaluations.
  • Reviews supplier and vendor documentation to verify technical compliance with specifications, design intent, and commissioning requirements across MEP disciplines.
  • Utilizes applicable engineering and commissioning standards, department guides, and internal resources to support MEP commissioning activities.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of commissioning, inspection, and testing of MEP components and systems, including participation in start‑up, functional performance testing, and integrated system testing.
  • Applies solid understanding of engineering principles relevant to MEP systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and controls fundamentals.
  • Maintains working familiarity with MEP infrastructure systems, which may include: Electrical distribution systems (switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, UPS, protective relays, power monitoring systems), Mechanical systems (HVAC equipment, pumps, hydronic systems, and associated controls), Plumbing and fire protection systems, Building automation, controls, and system interfaces.
  • Produces clear, well‑organized technical commissioning documentation, including procedures, reports, and deficiency tracking logs.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in advanced mathematics as required to support engineering analysis and commissioning activities.
  • Maintains working awareness of industry codes, standards, and commissioning best practices applicable to MEP systems.
  • Communicates effectively with project teams, contractors, vendors, and clients to support coordination and issue resolution.
  • Willing and able to travel periodically to customer and project sites to support commissioning execution.
