About The Position

Pilot Flying J is seeking an experienced Retail Assistant Manager to oversee high-volume travel center retail facilities. The role is responsible for generating and executing travel center and restaurant business plans to meet established standards, sales and profit objectives, and customer satisfaction goals. The assistant manager ensures customer expectations are met, holds meetings with subordinate employees, and maintains effective vendor relationships. The role builds, coaches, manages, and develops teams through staffing, interviewing, hiring, and training. Additional duties include driving sales, managing team members, tracking inventory, providing customer service, and performing profit-and-loss analysis. The position requires a flexible schedule that may include nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

At least 2–3 years of management experience in retail, restaurant, grocery, or another service industry, with responsibility for financial results.
Previous management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit-and-loss accountability.
Ability to create and maintain a customer-focused culture.
Integrity and accountability at the managerial level.
Excellent team leadership skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule of nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
