About The Position

We are seeking experienced Communications Technicians who are 100% travel-ready and based out of El Paso, Texas. This role requires technicians to travel to Iowa for a 4-month project assignment, with the potential for future travel opportunities. Candidates must be comfortable working full-time on the road and in various construction environments. The Communications Technician will be responsible for installing, terminating, and supporting structured cabling systems in commercial environments. This includes building out infrastructure to support low-voltage communication systems.

  • Rack and stack experience
  • Must be 100% travel-ready and willing to be deployed to Iowa for approximately 4 months
  • Must be based out of El Paso, TX or willing to mobilize from that location
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor construction environments
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional attitude
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documentation
  • Capable of working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals (e.g., dial tones)

Responsibilities

  • Install work area outlets for floor (e.g., monuments), modular furniture (e.g., surface mount boxes), and wall (e.g., box eliminators).
  • Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other methods.
  • Route cable through modular furniture systems.
  • Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, and dress cables; measure cable length and determine appropriate slack; label cables according to specifications.
  • Properly suspend and support cable using cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems.
  • Build out telecommunications closets: install backboards, racks, patch panels, and cross connects.
  • Install fiber optic systems and related hardware.
  • Install and bond grounding systems for racks, equipment, and cabling.
  • Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire-rated walls.
  • Install sleeves and pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations.
  • Terminate low-voltage devices.
