About The Position

Skilled Wound Care is hiring Trauma Surgeons in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to work as wound care physicians and lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities and post-acute settings. The position offers full-time or part-time options and is presented as an alternative to in-house trauma call, overnight activations, and unpredictable hospital schedules. The role follows a Monday–Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, 24-hour shifts, or pagers. Requirements

MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Unrestricted or clear medical license in the state of practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
DEA license, or eligibility to obtain one.
Candidates must complete pre-employment confidential DiSC testing and relevant skills testing.

Trauma or acute care surgery background; surgeons of all backgrounds, as well as Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians, are also welcomed.
Previous wound-care experience is not required; comprehensive wound-care training is provided.

Responsibilities

Perform surgical and sharp debridement and other bedside procedures.
Evaluate and treat chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds, including pressure injuries and post-surgical wounds.
Use advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols.
Collaborate in skilled nursing facilities and post-acute settings, following patients through healing.
Lead wound-care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities across the area.
