About The Position

Skilled Wound Care is hiring Trauma Surgeons in Stockton, California, to work as wound care physicians and lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities and other post-acute settings. This role offers an alternative to in-house trauma call, overnight activations, and unpredictable hospital schedules. Physicians evaluate and treat complex, chronic, and non-healing wounds, perform surgical and sharp debridement and bedside procedures, and use advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols. They collaborate with facility care teams and follow patients through healing. The position offers clinical autonomy, wound care training, and custom documentation software. Schedules are weekdays, with no nights or weekends, and are available part-time or full-time.

Requirements

MD or DO from an accredited institution.
Unrestricted or clear medical license in the state of practice, or eligibility to obtain one.
DEA license, or eligibility to obtain one.
Candidates must complete confidential pre-employment DiSC testing and relevant skills testing.

Nice To Haves

Trauma or acute care surgery background; surgeons of all backgrounds, as well as Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians, are welcome.
Previous wound care experience is not required; comprehensive wound care training is provided.

Responsibilities

Perform surgical and sharp debridement and other bedside procedures.
Evaluate and treat chronic, non-healing, and complex wounds, including pressure injuries and post-surgical wounds.
Use advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols.
Collaborate in skilled nursing facilities and post-acute settings, following patients through healing.
Lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities across the area.
