About The Position

The Trauma Outreach and Education Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between Hennepin Healthcare's nationally verified Adult and Pediatric Level I Trauma Centers and Burn Center and regional referring hospitals, EMS agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners. This role is responsible for referral network development and management, and ensuring professional education aligns with trauma center standards. The position focuses on physician or referral source communication and marketing by conveying hospital and clinic information and key messages aimed at strengthening regional partnerships, enhancing access to specialized trauma and burn care, supporting professional education, and improving outcomes for injured patients. The coordinator leads trauma and burn outreach and education initiatives for internal and external audiences, ensuring programs align with evidence-based practice and regulatory standards. In collaboration with multidisciplinary stakeholders, the coordinator monitors regional trauma care trends, identifies opportunities for system referral and flow improvement, and promotes compliance with local, state, regional, and national standards through education, and consultation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Five (5) years of experience in healthcare operations, clinical education, physician relations, network development, or similar role in hospital marketing or business development
  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse, issued by the State of Minnesota
  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong computer skills; to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access; email; and sales force automation software.
  • Familiarity with Epic preferred
  • Ability to oversee day-to-day operation of business systems designed to enhance communication with referring sites of service

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the development, effectiveness measurement, and promotion of the referral communication process while ensuring the provision of valuable follow-up and feedback to referring centers
  • Coordinate referral communication development between the Trauma/Burn Program outreach and business development specialists
  • Partner appropriately to coordinate business development opportunities by chairing work groups and communicating with key stakeholders throughout the process
  • Develop communication strategies that not only provide information, but collect actionable feedback and facilitate issue resolution for customers and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate HHS-sponsored educational opportunities for referral sources, EMS agencies, and Police/Fire departments based upon request, quality issues, or programming needs
  • Analyze Transfer Center data and market information including competitor actions and trends in the healthcare community to support/validate market research, strategic and business planning
  • Identify opportunities to engage care providers in the development of new business opportunities based on regional market strategies
  • Work with local municipalities to ensure new business opportunities and strategies are aligned with community needs and that the community supports these efforts
  • Coordinate ATLS, ABLS, the Virtual Trauma Education Series, the annual Trauma Conference, and the monthly Trauma Newsletter
  • Teach TNCC and Stop the Bleed courses
  • Represent Hennepin Healthcare at local, regional and national conferences as a presenter or vendor, or subject matter expert in the fields of Trauma and Burn
  • Collaborate with PPDR staff to coordinate internal education for Trauma/Burn while maintaining concurrent and accurate records to remain survey ready
