About The Position

The Trauma Data Specialist is responsible for the collection and entry of data for the Level IV Trauma Center. This role performs hospital-based coding and injury scaling, and provides trauma-related data to the trauma service team. The specialist reviews each trauma case throughout the continuum of care within the hospital to identify cases, extract necessary information, and report it for inclusion in the trauma registry database in an accurate and timely manner. This position reports to the Trauma Program Coordinator.

Requirements

• Education level equivalent to completion of High School Diploma.
• Data entry experience.
• Medical terminology.
• Training required by State/contracts/ National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB).
• Basic computer skills.
• Excel/Reports/pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Collection and entry of data for the Level IV Trauma Center.
• Performing hospital-based coding and injury scaling.
• Providing trauma-related data to the trauma service team.
• Reviewing each trauma case through the continuum of care within the hospital to identify cases.
• Extracting necessary information and reporting it for inclusion in the trauma registry database in an accurate and timely manner.
