About The Position

Cooper University Health Care is seeking a full-time Trauma Intensivist to join their Level I Trauma Center. This role is responsible for the triage, diagnosis, and comprehensive management of critically ill and injured trauma patients, with a focus on preventing secondary complications and delivering high-quality, evidence-based critical care. The physician will provide specialized expertise in the treatment and support of patients with severe traumatic injuries, multiple organ dysfunction, and other life-threatening conditions requiring intensive care. The Trauma Division provides rapid evaluation, resuscitation, operative management, and post-operative critical care for patients experiencing traumatic injuries resulting from motor vehicle collisions, falls, industrial accidents, violence, and other complex emergencies. The program is supported by immediate access to subspecialty services including neurosurgery, orthopedics, cardiothoracic surgery, plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, rehabilitation medicine, and advanced diagnostic and interventional services.

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Experience preparing patients for emergency surgical procedures and assisting surgeons during operative interventions, as appropriate.
  • Hold an MD degree.
  • Be Board Certified.
  • Must obtain NJ Medical License.
  • Emotional stability, dependability, positive relations with community staff, adherence to ethical standards, eliciting cooperation, attendance/participation in clinic meetings and peer councils.

Responsibilities

  • Triage, diagnosis, and comprehensive management of critically ill and injured trauma patients.
  • Preventing secondary complications and delivering high-quality, evidence-based critical care.
  • Providing specialized expertise in the treatment and support of patients with severe traumatic injuries, multiple organ dysfunction, and other life-threatening conditions requiring intensive care.
  • Preparing patients for emergency surgical procedures and assisting surgeons during operative interventions, as appropriate.
  • Administering and managing emergency medications.
  • Coordinating patient care among primary physicians, critical care nurses, ancillary staff, and consulting specialists.
  • Collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams including dietitians, social workers, nursing students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Guiding complex clinical decision-making.
  • Utilizing advanced critical care technologies and procedures.
  • Counseling patients and families regarding prognosis, advance directives, and end-of-life care.
  • Providing professional medical services in a compassionate, patient-centered manner.
  • Ensuring continuity of care by following patients across care settings or facilitating appropriate referrals when needed.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely medical records.
  • Preparing and completing all required reports, billing documentation, claims, and professional correspondence in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Provide consultation and surgical assistance to other physicians and surgeons.
