About The Position

Rutherford Regional Health System, part of Lifepoint Health, is a 143-bed acute care facility serving Rutherford County with inpatient and outpatient services. The Transporter supports patient care by moving patients and delivering equipment, supplies, and specimens throughout the facility. The role also assists with operating room turnover and coordinates with clinical and support staff while following infection-control, safety, privacy, and hospital protocols. This is a PRN position with varied shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds and safely operate or move equipment and supplies.
• Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
• Ability to reach overhead and sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with clinical and support staff.
• Ability to remain calm, prioritize tasks, and perform effectively in fast-paced or stressful perioperative environments.

Nice To Haves

• Previous CNA experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from the Operating Room (OR), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Outpatient Services, and other designated areas.
• Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, including patients requiring oxygen, IV pumps, monitors, or other specialized equipment.
• Assist with operating room turnover by cleaning between cases, moving equipment, and restocking supplies.
• Coordinate patient movement and room readiness with surgical, anesthesia, nursing, and support staff.
• Follow infection control, safety, patient privacy, and hospital protocols during transport and room turnover.
• Deliver specimens, equipment, and supplies to appropriate departments in a timely manner.
• Observe and report patient concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
