About The Position

Under supervision, to transport patients and materials to various destinations inside of medical facilities; provides patient and family education regarding transfer techniques to be utilized in the post-hospital setting, as appropriate; and do other work as required.

Requirements

• Completion of a recognized training program in basic patient care preferred.
• No experience required.
• Current BLS required. (American Heart Association)
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of hospital established policies quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
• Ability to learn the principles, methods, and procedures of proper patient care.
• Ability to learn medical facility routines and techniques.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to apply proper body mechanics in lifting and moving at least 100 pounds.
• Ability to use good judgement when acting independent of supervisory guidance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
• Ability to work effectively under stress and in emergency situations.
• Maintains, demonstrates and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for physical, psychosocial and cultural needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

• Six (6) months experience preferred.
