About The Position

The Transporter performs the responsibilities needed to move patients to and from patient-care areas and departments throughout the hospital. The role primarily serves adult and geriatric patients and transports patients of all ages from the Emergency Services Department to hospital subsection areas in a friendly, professional, and ethical manner. Transporters maintain transport equipment and accompany patients with nursing personnel. They may be cross-trained to perform clerical and film file room duties. The role requires extended periods of walking, strength and coordination, a pleasant public-facing manner, and schedule flexibility. Transport priorities are coordinated with the clerical receptionist and/or technical supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Accuracy with names and numbers.
• Self-motivation after learning job duties and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to walk for extended periods; strength and coordination are required.
• A pleasant personality for public relations.
• Schedule flexibility.

Nice To Haves

• Prior hospital or other healthcare experience as a Transporter, Aide, or Orderly.
• Prior transport experience.

Responsibilities
