This posting is for a Transportation Worker III in the Graham County Maintenance Unit. Work will consist of a wide range of progressively responsible maintenance tasks in the preventive maintenance, repair, and construction of State Maintained roads and road features. Work will include pipe installation, shoulder and ditch maintenance, asphalt pavement repair, installation of traffic control devices, installation of erosion control devices, operating various pieces of construction equipment, hand, and power tools. This position will also respond to emergency response situations including traffic accidents, snow and ice removal and other emergencies as they occur. This position will operate equipment such as a backhoe, track hoe, track loader, skid steer and dump truck. Employee will be subject to extreme environmental conditions, in addition to hazards at highway construction sites, including heavy equipment and highway traffic. Work also includes reading and interpreting plans, determining personnel, equipment and material needed to complete assigned maintenance tasks. Employee is responsible for making appropriate adjustments of plans to meet field conditions, planning, monitoring and ensuring safety standards are adhered to, daily documentation of personnel, material and equipment usage, responding to public inquiries, attending training and continuing education classes to keep up to date on all state and federal regulations and maintaining certifications in all required areas.
