About The Position

This position will serve as a sign-erector, installing, removing and maintaining signs, signposts, delineators, and hardware. Workers shall possess the ability to perform manual and physical labor involved in the installation and removal of traffic signs and other traffic control devices. Employees must comply with all safety rules and policies to maintain a safe work environment. Employees will operate a medium duty truck as well as a variety of hand and power tools. Employees must function under a variety of environmental/weather conditions which include, but not limited to, extreme cold and heat, noise, vibration, hazards, and oils. Applicant shall be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform assigned tasks. Applicant shall be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Employees will be subject to be on call for many types of traffic-related emergencies after regular hours. Workers shall possess the ability to work under conditions of exposure to noise, dust, asphalt, traffic and heavy construction. Safety toe shoes are required.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must have a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date.
  • Must be able to operate equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and three years of experience operating equipment directly related to the field of specialization; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of a current Commercial Driver’s License on the date of hire, OR obtain the North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire.

  • Knowledge of sign design, layout, and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of maintaining the Sign Inventory.
