Requirements

  • One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work
  • One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Be able to perform essential job functions
  • Submission of criminal history reports will be required for a conditional offer of employment

Responsibilities

  • Assist in operating surveying instruments to collect measurements for transportation projects
  • Set up and adjust tools such as GPS receivers, electronic total stations, and data collectors
  • Use Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software to convert field information into maps and drawings
  • Perform math and trigonometry computations to check measurements and locations
  • Prepare and update field notes, sketches, and survey records for engineering use
  • Coordinate with team members using hand signals, radios, and verbal communication
