About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT), a 100% employee-owned multidisciplinary consulting firm, is seeking a Transportation Technician IV for its Construction Management Team. The position serves as a lead inspector responsible for supervising transportation construction projects in North Carolina. Statewide opportunities are available, with the specific location to be discussed with the hiring manager during an interview. The role includes inspecting roadway and bridge construction, supervising subordinate inspection staff, tracking pay-item quantities, maintaining project records, and addressing field inquiries and issues. Immigration sponsorship or support is unavailable, except for qualified candidates eligible for TN visa classification.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on roadway, bridge, and other transportation projects to verify conformance with plans and specifications.
• Supervise and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout construction of the project.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Gather and maintain record documents, including material certifications, testing reports, and inspectors’ daily diaries.
• Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and internal and external parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
