About The Position

As a member of Smithfield’s Supply Chain team, the Transportation Representative coordinates between transportation providers, sales brokers, and customer buyers to support timely, cost-effective product delivery. The role supports logistics operations by resolving delivery issues, facilitating communication, and maintaining high service standards so customers and shelves remain stocked efficiently. The stated shift is 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively across teams.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word, and order processing software.
• Solid decision-making skills and the ability to compare options and calculate transactional trade-offs.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and resolve issues quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work well with others and foster a respectful, team-oriented work culture.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact between transportation carriers and field sales teams, relaying updates and promptly resolving service issues.
• Use FourKites tracking software to monitor shipments and provide real-time status updates.
• Notify Customer Service of existing or potential delivery issues and work collaboratively to minimize disruptions.
• Keep sales representatives and brokers informed about transportation-related challenges or delays.
• Enter and track delivery data, make decisions about missed appointments, and determine appropriate next steps to support customer satisfaction.
• Track and report on Spotlight Accounts with prior service issues, providing enhanced handling and follow-up.
• Assist with securing and rescheduling delivery appointments to align with customer expectations and delivery windows.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
