About The Position

Bolton & Menk is seeking interns for their 2027 Transportation Planning summer internship program. Interns will join the team in Minneapolis, Eden Prairie, or Plymouth locations. This is an opportunity to work with professionals and impact communities. Bolton & Menk has over 75 years of experience providing community infrastructure solutions across the Midwest, Southeast, and beyond.

Requirements

Selected candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in urban planning, public policy, geography, public Administration or other closely related field from an accredited college.
Minimum Cumulative GPA: 2.8 GPA; Desired GPA 3.2 or above.
Students must possess a valid driver’s license and their own transportation or have ability to use public transportation.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, part-time basis or internship for any employer without restriction.

Responsibilities

Support project teams for services related to transportation planning, bicycle/pedestrian planning, securing competitive funding for projects, land use analysis and impacts, research, analysis and impacts; and environmental documents.
Gain experience in transportation planning methods and application at the local and regional level.
Gain experience in multimodal, active transportation and bicycle-pedestrian planning methods and design standards for application in urban and rural areas.
Gain experience in corridor and small area plans.
Gain experience in researching methods and statistical principles related to urban/rural growth and development.
Gain experience in methods and techniques of effective technical report preparation and presentations.
Gain experience in policy research and persuasive writing skills.
Gain experience in agency and stakeholder involvement techniques and processes.
Gain experience in project communications and public engagement methods and facilitation.
