Transportation Planning Intern - Summer 2027
About The Position
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Transportation Planning Intern – Summer 2027 to join our Henderson, NV office. This role involves working on real client projects, gaining exposure to multiple stages of the project lifecycle and a variety of transportation planning assignments. The intern will support transportation planning tasks such as traffic modeling, data collection, safety analysis, public engagement, and multi-modal planning and design. Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of technical documentation, presentations, and project reports, analyzing and interpreting transportation data, participating in project team meetings, and supporting mapping, data visualization, and planning analyses. The intern will also collaborate with team members to develop innovative transportation solutions and participate in training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple tasks.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with mapping and transportation modeling tools, or data visualization software is a plus.
- Demonstrated interest in transportation systems, mobility, roadway safety, public engagement, and community planning.
Responsibilities
- Support transportation planning tasks that could include traffic modeling, data collection, safety analysis, public engagement, and multi-modal planning and design.
- Assist with the preparation of technical documentation, presentations, and project reports.
- Analyze and interpret transportation data to support project recommendations, planning discussions, and decision-making.
- Participate in project team meetings, brainstorming sessions, client meetings, and workshops.
- Support mapping, data visualization, and planning analyses used to communicate project findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with team members to develop innovative transportation solutions.
- Participate in training, mentorship and professional development opportunities to build technical, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
