About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Transportation Planning Intern, interested in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to join our Atlanta, Georgia office. This role involves assisting with screening assessments, creating graphics and maps for technical reports, participating in project site assessments, and supporting public engagement activities. The intern will gain hands-on experience with industry leaders and receive support and mentorship from professionals.

Requirements

  • Completed 60 hours towards a bachelor’s degree in planning, or a related degree from an accredited college/university by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
  • Completed scientific, engineering, or other coursework that required research, data analysis, technical report production and presentation of findings for peer consideration.
  • Ability to work in outdoor project sites and drive.
  • Basic understanding of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ArcPro GIS, etc.
  • Ability to organize files.
  • Use standard business writing to contribute to technical report production.
  • Experience reading a map and/or construction plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience analyzing census data and/or identifying ecological resources is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of, or prepares screening assessments with supervision
  • Create graphics, maps, spreadsheets, databases, or tables to assist with technical report preparation
  • Participate in project site assessment activities, pre and post field work activities, site assessment, and data processing
  • Assist with public engagement activities, including but not limited to the ability to use social media to research or promote activities, speak to a group or communicate with individuals of the public, special interest groups, etc., and create informative materials.
