About The Position

VHB’s South Portland, Maine office is looking for a talented Transportation Planner to join us! This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.

Requirements

0-1 years of related professional experience
Bachelor’s degree in planning, civil engineering, or related field
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially experience with Word.
Attention to detail
Ability to independently perform multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers
Team oriented with strong capability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Esri ArcGIS Desktop software, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online a plus
Experience in Shapefile (SHP) and File GeoDatabase (DBF) file formats a plus

Responsibilities

Assist in development of transportation planning studies for a multitude of transportation projects
Assist with development of support materials for public involvement activities
Support with authorship of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies and demographic analyses
Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
Conduct planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
Assist in safety studies
