This position serves as a key grants coordinator within the Program Management and Administration Division of the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF). The role focuses on maximizing federal funding for Alaska and supporting communities in their pursuit of federal and state funding opportunities. Responsibilities include coordinating the department's response to federal grant opportunities, enhancing Alaska's competitiveness, and ensuring communities understand available state-funded programs. The position also involves preparing and submitting federal grant applications and assisting in the development and management of competitive state-funded programs. Requirements

  • Competency in Budget Administration: Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis, including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems.
  • Competency in External Awareness: Understands and keeps up-to-date on local, national, and international policies and trends that affect the organization and shape stakeholders' views; is aware of the organization's impact on the external environment.
  • Competency in Landscape Architecture: Knowledge of the concepts, theories, and practices used in the planning, designing, construction, and adaptation of outdoor features, taking into consideration recreation planning, requirements, aesthetic value, and compatibility with other developments and resources.
  • Competency in Transportation: Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including costs and limits.
  • Competency in Transportation Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods applicable to planning, designing, and constructing of transportation systems including traffic analysis, signal analysis, highway capacity, pavement design, bridge construction, planning of transportation projects, environmental analysis of transportation facilities, and transportation network analysis.
  • Equivalent to post-secondary education in urban, regional, transportation, or landscape planning; AND/OR Experience, which involves some combination of the design of research projects, setting standards for technical adequacy, and/or coordinating the planning contributions of lower level planners or other agencies, in environmental, transportation, or community development; architecture; civil engineering; landscape architecture; urban design; historic preservation; geography; geographic information systems; housing administration; grant administration; accounting; business management; or research.
  • Applicants must demonstrate possession of the following core competencies: Grants Management, Partnering, Planning and Evaluating.
