The Agency of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Operations Technician II. This position is responsible for various tasks related to highway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. In the winter months, this position will also assist with plowing and salting, and overtime may be required. Additionally, this position may assist in vehicle and equipment maintenance. This is an entry-level position for maintenance work within the Agency of Transportation (VTrans) on the St Johnsbury Team. The Transportation Operations Technician II, is responsible for routine maintenance and repair work. Duties typically require the use of a variety of tools and vehicles. Overtime work is required, particularly during the winter months, and is considered a condition of employment. A newly hired employee must complete all VTTC training requirements for the Job Development Plan (JDP) and demonstrate knowledge and skills in a minimum of six areas of maintenance or construction activities. The work is performed under the supervision of an AOT Area Maintenance Supervisor or higher-level maintenance worker. These positions have many opportunities for career development.
