About The Position

Our experienced Overland Park Highway Transportation Team is seeking a civil engineering student to join our team to train and mentor as a Roadway Design Intern. This internship offers the opportunity to actively participate in plan preparation and design by working alongside a dynamic team. Interns will be exposed to many aspects of transportation engineering, including highway, intersection, maintenance of traffic, and drainage designs. The role involves becoming familiar with relevant DOT standards for highway design and plan preparation, and learning to utilize industry-related design software such as MicroStation, Inroads/OpenRoads, and CulvertMaster/FlowMaster. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with a commitment to becoming a key member of this highly productive design team. Garver also offers the Garver Launch Program, an immersive hands-on intern development program designed to elevate the summer experience. Through this program, interns will engage with fellow interns and industry professionals, participate in Garver's acclaimed wellness program, give back to the community through Garver Gives volunteer activities, and enhance professional growth with tailored training and programs from the Learning and Development team.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in transportation engineering.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable and responsible individual.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in plan preparation and design.
