The Transportation Financial Specialist 2 performs full-performance, highly specialized work under limited supervision. This position requires the use of independent judgment in the interpretation and adaptation of policies and guidelines. The role involves identifying and correcting routine posting errors, reconciling data and multiple funding types, and classifying/coding according to a chart of accounts. It also includes performing complex reconciliations of large data and multiple funds, maintaining accounting records, and preparing financial statements and reports. The specialist will contact associates, administrators, and the general public to obtain information, discuss document changes, or resolve account problems. Duties encompass difficult or complex accounting or financial support work in general accounting and payroll, reviewing and reconciling varied reports, computer-generated materials, and related data. Additionally, the role involves reviewing and analyzing federal and state regulations and local provisions regarding salary and benefit issues, providing technical information and instruction on payroll processing procedures, and interpreting rules and regulations involving payroll. Analysis and maintenance of annual and sick leave accruals, reconciliation, preparation, and distribution of W-2 information (including corrections) in conjunction with the WV State Auditor's Office, and working with employee benefits management (approving, tracking, entering, and requesting information) are also key responsibilities. Duties require knowledge of multiple tasks and procedures. Travel may be required, necessitating a valid driver's license.
