By joining our Covington Section Office as a Transportation Engineering Technologist Ill in Kenton County, you'll have the opportunity to complete a variety of complex technical engineering projects including plans, proposals, specifications, and addenda; provide expertise in construction projects for Covington Section Office; coordinate with consultants or contractors on specialized programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, computer science, data science, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology. OR Graduate with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program.
- Four years of engineering-related experience.
- Possess a valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR an associate degree in an engineering field
- High school
- Must have four years of engineering-related experience with the first education option above;
- Must have seven years of engineering-related experience with the second education option above;
- Must have ten years of engineering-related experience in which case related technical or vocational training will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years with the third education option above;
- Must have eight years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a Qualified InspectionTeam Leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course with the fourth education option above.
- Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
- Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Responsibilities
- Reviews, coordinates, and inspects the work of sub-professionals on survey operations.
- Research deed, calculate areas and write descriptions of right-of-way to be acquired.
- Compiles and interprets data necessary for the development of roadway plans.
- Acts as survey chief and, or, operates survey equipment to collect necessary information for the development of roadway plans.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
